Sea Pines Country Club Wedding

Updated: Feb 4, 2021

October in South Carolina is something special. The island starts to empty of all the summer visitors, the weather is still warm but you aren't dripping sweat if you are outside all day, the nights have a cooler breeze that says "fall" without the frost that hits other parts of the country. These are just a few of the reasons why October is the most popular month to get married in the South Carolina lowcountry. Cordy & Drew traveled down from Chicago for their special wedding weekend- right in the middle of October!

Getting Ready:

They decided to do a "first look" before the ceremony so they could maximize the time with their family and friends. Six oaks is a trademark Sea Pines photo spot thanks to the gorgeous live oaks all over the property! Their wedding party joined them and they were able to do all their group photos pre-ceremony!

Their ceremony was out on the 18th fairway... a little further down than the popular location. This allowed for the trees in the background. They chose simple ceremony decor with a copper arbor.

The decor inside the club was a mixture of family style tables and rounds which gave a dynamic feel to the space and allowed for us to do both greenery runners and tall tropical greens atop clear pedestals.

When I started working with them it was clear that they wanted a party- after all their band was the second wedding vendor they chose (the first being the venue.) With Deas Guyz playing in front of the wall of windows at Sea Pines Country Club we knew we were going to maximize the dance time! The finished with some late night snacks and a sparkler farewell!

Local Wedding Pros:

Planner: ME! Magnolia Affairs. Cordy & Drew had a Full Service Planning Package

Venue: Sea Pines Country Club. This club allows "non-members" to get married in their club. Its a great location just inside the main Sea Pines gate. With a golf course, pool deck, hardwood rotunda, bar and ballroom there are plenty of spaces to customize your event!

Florist: Jardiniere Events. Dakotah and Terry are one of my top "go-to" florists in the lowcountry. Their eye for design, floral knowledge and professionalism help make your event and planning experience perfect! Flowers are usually an aspect couples come into their wedding planning not knowing exactly what they want which is why the team at Jardiniere is so great- they listen to your vision and ideas and translate that into flowers!

Photographer: Kathryn Hastings Photography. Katie has become one of my favorite photographers after she shot a wedding two years ago (Rachel & Chase's beach wedding). I knew she was PERFECT for Cordy and Drew, not only because her style and personality were the perfect match, but because she also goes back to her hometown of Chicago occasionally! That meant that she could do their engagement photos, anniversary photos, and photos for their other life events! WINNING!

Band: Deas Guyz. Well, as I shared earlier they had already chosen their band before I met them! Cordy's parents are Hilton Head residents so they were very aware of the rocking entertainment provided by Reggie and his crew. They kept guests on the dance floor all night long and were official member of the family by the end of the night.

Hair & Make Up: Southern Belle by Maria Noel. Maria & her team did many of my weddings last year! They can do all size parties but they are my go-to for larger parties! They service Charleston to Atlanta to Hilton Head and probably further. My couples get a few extra perks with them!

Desserts: Custom Confections. Carrie works MAGIC with her sweets! Cordy and Drew chose a small cutting cake with an assortment of mini-cupcakes. I am not lying when I say there was not one mini-cupcake left at the end of the night! My personal favorite is chocolate cake with Nutella frosting, the Oreo truffles or the chocolate mousse... okay I cant pick one they are all great!

Rentals: Eventworks. One of my top sources for rentals in Charleston, the lowcountry & Savannah. They have linens, bars, furniture, tables, tents and specialty pieces.

Transportation: Sea Pines Trolleys. The iconic trolleys are a staples for Sea Pines Weddings!

Other vendors:

Wedding Dress: Yaniv Persy

Bridesmaid's dresses: Jenny Yoo NYC

Invitations: Papersource

Linens: BBJ Linens
